Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack/Backend NestJS)

Description

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and scale backend services that are secure, reliable, and easy for other teams to integrate with. You’ll own features end-to-end, mentor others, and help shape backend standards (architecture, testing, CI/CD, observability).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using NestJS (TypeScript) with clean architecture and maintainable patterns

• Build maintain REST APIs (and/or GraphQL) with strong contracts and documentation

• Implement event-driven architecture with Kafka (producers/consumers, topics, partitions, consumer groups)

• Define and enforce API versioning + deprecation strategy (backward compatibility, migration timelines, and client communication)

• Use Redis for caching, rate limiting, sessions, and distributed locks where appropriate

• Own data design and performance for SQL (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and/or NoSQL where appropriate

• Implement auth & security practices (JWT/OAuth2, RBAC, input validation, rate limiting, audit logging)

• Improve reliability: logging, monitoring, tracing, alerting, and incident response practices

• Optimize performance (query tuning, caching with Redis, async jobs/queues)

• Collaborate with Product, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to deliver features in iterative releases

• Write high-quality tests (unit/integration/e2e), enforce code review standards, and maintain CI/CD pipelines

• Mentor engineers, contribute to engineering guidelines, and help with technical decision-making.

• Own schema change & migration strategy (e.g., Prisma/TypeORM migrations, rollout/backfill patterns, zero/low-downtime migrations)

• Leverage agentic AI tools and coding assistants (specifically Claude Code) to accelerate development, while maintaining absolute accountability for reviewing, testing, and securing all AI-generated logic before committing to the codebase.

• UML & ER diagram understanding (implementation-ready)

• Agile/Scrum collaboration and cross-functional communication

• Responsible AI-assisted development (critical code review, security validation, and ownership of outputs from tools like Claude Code)

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend/software engineering experience

• 3+ years with Node.js + TypeScript in production

• Strong experience with NestJS

• Production experience with an ORM

• Hands-on experience with Redis

• Hands-on experience with Kafka (or similar event streaming/message broker)

• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS

• Experience with databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB

• Experience integrating and consuming APIs using REST API

• Experience with Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience​ with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library).

• Understanding of secure coding practices and web application security.

• Experience utilizing AI CLIs and agentic development tools (e.g., Claude Code) responsibly, demonstrating the ability to critically audit AI-generated code for edge cases, security vulnerabilities, and architectural alignment.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Understanding of clean architecture, SOLID principles.

• Experience in creating POC projects for technical evaluation.

• Skilled in documenting systems with UML and ER diagrams.

• Experience in version control (Git) and entry-level CI/CD concepts

• Familiarity with security best practices and basic performance optimization strategies

• Strong communication skills, openness to feedback, and readiness to collaborate

• Stay updated with emerging technologies and collaborate effectively with a team.
