🎯 What You'll Do

Hopae connects businesses to government eIDs and identity systems worldwide through a single platform — across fintech, credentials, supply chain, and gaming. As a Senior Software Engineer at Hopae, you own real problems end to end, across the full stack, in a team where the mission moves fast and the scope is broad by design.

This is not a role where you pick a lane and stay in it. You'll work across backend, integrations, infrastructure, and tooling — whatever the product needs. If you thrive in environments where ownership is total and the work is never the same twice, this is for you.

• Build and scale the core verification platform — API architecture, verification lifecycle, async processing, event delivery, and production reliability

• Connect and operate external identity providers — building adapters, normalization layers, health monitoring, and the tooling that makes adding the next provider faster than the last

• Build the infrastructure that takes integrated capabilities to proven in production — developer tooling, E2E test infrastructure, reference environments, and go-live systems

• Own quality end to end — you write the tests, you monitor production, you fix what breaks

• Investigate failures independently, identify root causes, and fix the system rather than the symptom

• Lead projects and technical initiatives — define the approach, align the team, and drive execution through to production

• Mentor junior engineers — through code reviews, pair programming, and direct feedback that raises the bar for everyone

• Participate in the hiring process — interview candidates and help shape the engineering team we're building

• Work directly with Product, partners, and customers when solving a problem requires it — you're not behind a ticket queue

🧠 Who You Are

• 5+ years of software engineering experience — you've personally designed, operated, and taken responsibility for meaningful production systems

• Strong backend fundamentals — APIs, distributed systems, async processing, and production reliability are second nature; our stack is TypeScript / JavaScript

• Full stack in practice — you go where the problem is, whether that's backend, infrastructure, tooling, or frontend when needed

• You own quality: testing, observability, and operational readiness are part of how you work, not someone else's job

• Proven ability to lead projects and technical decisions — you set direction, make trade-offs, and bring others with you

• Natural mentor — you invest in the people around you and make the team better, not just the codebase

• High ownership, low ego — you drive ambiguous problems to resolution without waiting to be told exactly what to do

• Based in Seoul; comfortable working in a global, multicultural, English-first environment
