Senior Software Engineer II
Summary
Senior backend engineer building scalable .NET Core microservices and event-driven systems for a job-market platform, mentoring peers and driving technical decisions.
The job at a glance
Join our Apply domain as a Senior Software Engineer II and take ownership of complex backend challenges built primarily on .NET Core. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will act as a hands-on technical anchor, shaping architectural solutions while building them together with the team.
Working in the Apply domain, you will solve ambiguous technical problems with low to moderate supervision, choose or adapt the right approach, and help teams connect engineering solutions back to business needs. You will also mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to technical initiatives that go beyond your immediate team.
This is so important to us. By joining our team, you will be playing a vital role as together we reimagine the labour market to make it work for everybody.
Your responsibilities
Lead technical initiatives within the team and support cross-team engineering efforts.
Design and implement architectural solutions, remaining hands-on throughout delivery while ensuring code quality, engineering best practices, and modern software delivery standards.
Identify technical risks and optimization opportunities, recommending and justifying the most effective solutions.
Mentor and coach engineers, contributing to technical reviews, hiring, and promotion processes.
Drive knowledge sharing across the engineering organization through Communities of Practice and communicate technical decisions and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Your skills and qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core, SQL, AWS, and building scalable microservices/event-driven architectures, including asynchronous communication and message queues.
Solid understanding of automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software delivery practices, with experience using or adopting AI-assisted development tools.
Proven ability to independently solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges, selecting and adapting the most appropriate solutions.
Experience mentoring and coaching engineers, with exposure to technical interviews, promotion reviews, or other engineering talent processes.
Self-driven and proactive engineer with excellent judgement, strong ownership mindset, and a track record of contributing to knowledge-sharing initiatives such as Communities of Practice, tech talks, or similar forums.
