Senior Software Engineer, Java
About the Role
We are building and maintaining a Software‑as‑a‑Service platform that uses a Vue.js front‑end and a Java/Spring back‑end system powered by microservices on AWS and Heroku. The Senior Software Engineer will develop new features, improve existing services, and contribute to the overall quality and delivery process.
Responsibilities
- Build new features for microservices within the AWS/Heroku architecture
- Conduct code reviews and write automated tests
- Define improvements for the applications you work on
- Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices
- Suggest improvements to our ways of working
- Share knowledge with team members
- Fix bugs and analyze errors using available information and tools
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Java with deep expertise in object‑oriented design
- Hands‑on Java development with server‑side technologies such as Spring, JPA, Hibernate
- Experience with SQL and RDBMS, preferably MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Creative problem‑solving skills and effective communication of feedback, needs, and solutions
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
- Familiarity with distributed version control systems (Git / GitHub)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Knowledge of SaaS applications and the SaaS product development process
- Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (Vue, Angular, React)
- Experience designing and implementing clear interfaces (RESTful services or other)
- Familiarity with AWS (RDS, EC2), Heroku
- Familiarity with modern data stores (Redis) and NoSQL databases (Mongo)
Preferred Experience
- Software security – fuzzing, tabletop threat models, analysis, audit
- Proven experience with industry compliance, cloud security, and regulatory standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR
