About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer specialising in Java to join a high-performing engineering team within a fast-paced technology company based in Dublin City Centre.

You'll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering scalable backend services and APIs, working closely with other engineers, product managers and technical stakeholders. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and contributing to engineering best practices.

The initial contract is for 6 months on a rolling basis, with the expectation of ongoing collaboration subject to business requirements and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable backend services using Java and modern backend technologies.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed services.
• Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, QA and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
• Identify and resolve performance, scalability and reliability issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
• Support automated testing, CI/CD and deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root-cause analysis.
• Mentor and support less experienced engineers where appropriate.
• Contribute to an Agile/Scrum development environment.
