Senior Software Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in India.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and operation of large-scale eCommerce, authentication, and infrastructure platforms running on AWS. You will work as a polyglot engineer, combining backend development with infrastructure as code, Kubernetes, deployment automation, and cloud-native technologies. The role involves designing and owning Java-based services and APIs while helping build reliable delivery workflows for mission-critical applications. You will work extensively with distributed systems, continuous deployment, GitOps practices, and modern observability tools. Collaboration with security and engineering teams will be essential to maintaining strong technical standards and regulatory compliance. This is a remote opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and continuously expanding their technical expertise.

You will contribute across software engineering, infrastructure, and platform operations, taking ownership of services and delivery workflows that support reliable, secure, and scalable applications.

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and infrastructure management software.
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using technologies and ecosystems such as Java, Unix CLI, and Node.js.
• Design, build, and operate infrastructure workflows and deployment pipelines using Kubernetes, Argo Workflows, Argo CD, and GitOps practices.
• Develop and own Java-based services and APIs running on Kubernetes platforms across AWS and distributed environments.
• Build and support application and infrastructure delivery pipelines that enable reliable continuous deployment.
• Help ensure dependable releases for eCommerce, authentication, and infrastructure services.
• Operate and maintain high-volume, mission-critical production systems in AWS environments.
• Apply infrastructure-as-code practices to support backend applications, services, and cloud resources.
• Implement and maintain observability, monitoring, and logging capabilities across production systems.
• Collaborate with security and other engineering teams to strengthen technical standards and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to platform reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Troubleshoot production and infrastructure issues and implement sustainable solutions.
• Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, engineering practices, and platform capabilities.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced backend engineer with strong Java expertise and hands-on experience building and operating cloud-native systems at scale.

• 5+ years of strong professional experience in backend software engineering with Java.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and tools such as Helm, Kustomize, or equivalent technologies for deploying and managing backend services.
• Proven experience building and operating high-volume, mission-critical production systems on AWS.
• Experience working with continuous deployment and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code for backend applications and cloud services.
• Experience with observability and logging platforms, including Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and production software engineering.
• Experience developing and maintaining backend services and APIs.
• Ability to work effectively across application development, infrastructure, security, and platform engineering teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills.
• Familiarity with backend data-storage technologies such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, and SQL-based databases is a plus.
• Practical understanding of security best practices, including authentication and authorization technologies, is desirable.
• Hands-on familiarity with cloud and DevOps tooling such as AWS services, CloudFormation, RDS, ALB, NLB, S3, Route53, Security Groups, and secrets-management tools is beneficial.
• Experience with Akamai GTM, Logstash, Beats, FluentD/Fluentbit, Argo Workflows, Argo CD, Argo Rollouts, or certificate and secret rotation is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and collaborate with geographically distributed teams.
• Willingness to learn and grow beyond the exact requirements of the role.
