Senior Software Engineer (SDET)
Summary
Build and maintain Cypress/JavaScript test frameworks to validate enterprise web apps for Ford’s mobility products, ensuring cross-browser compatibility and accessibility in Agile teams.
Join our Quality Engineering team as a Senior SDET responsible for ensuring the reliability, usability, accessibility, and quality of enterprise web applications. This role focuses on front-end test automation using Cypress and JavaScript, cross-browser validation, release readiness, and continuous quality improvement within Agile delivery teams.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable UI and end-to-end automated test frameworks.
- Build automated tests using Cypress and JavaScript for enterprise web applications.
- Validate user experience, UI functionality, browser compatibility, and accessibility requirements.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
- Perform cross-browser and cross-platform testing using BrowserStack.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and quality engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Analyze front-end changes and assess testing and automation impacts.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and quality planning activities.
- Support release readiness, validation, and production deployment activities.
- Drive continuous improvements in automation coverage, quality metrics, and testing practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software testing and quality engineering.
- 4+ years of experience with Cypress and JavaScript-based test automation.
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, DOM architecture, browser behavior, and client-side application concepts.
- Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Experience with Java, Cucumber, TestNG, and Maven.
- Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using GCP Cloud Build or similar platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Git, Jira, and Azure DevOps.
- Strong experience performing functional, regression, and cross-browser testing.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accessibility testing tools and WCAG compliance.
- Experience with REST API testing.
- Experience with performance testing tools.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or equivalent solutions.
ISTQB or equivalent testing certification.
