Senior Software Engineer (AI-Native), Research Tech
Location: Hybrid in Helsinki (2-3 days a week on-site)
Contract: 6-months initial contract
About the role
We’re partnering with a world-leading mobile games company, the studio behind some of the most successful and long-running games of the last decade, played by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. They’re known for a culture built on trust, autonomy and a relentless focus on making great games.
They’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Research Tech team, which builds the software that helps game researchers understand players, from running surveys inside live games to bringing together data from many sources.
This is a hands‑on generalist role across the backend and frontend. Strong technical skills matter, but attitude, communication and proactivity matter even more. If you enjoy solving practical problems, talking through ideas with others and using AI tools to get the most out of your time, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll work on
- Building the technology behind in-game surveys: WebView's that run inside games, controlled by the game engine and connected to APIs the team manages
- Designing, building and maintaining those APIs and backend services
- Integrating external data sources to give researchers a fuller picture of player behaviour
- Working closely with game researchers and other teams to understand their needs and turn ideas into working tools
- Using AI tools day to day to work faster and smarter, and helping the team make the most of them
What they’re looking for
- Around 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
- Solid backend experience with Java and/or Python
- Comfortable with AI-assisted development and keen to make it a core part of how you work
- A proactive, hands‑on approach to problem-solving
- Clear communication and a genuine enjoyment of collaborating and sharing ideas
Nice to have
- Experience in the gaming industry
- Familiarity with game engines (e.g. Unity or Unreal)
- Experience with embedded WebView's, in-game UI, or survey and research tooling
