How you'll make impact

As a Staff/Senior Solutions Engineer, you’ll partner with Account Executives to design solutions that solve critical business challenges throughout the pre-sales, solution design and implementation processes. You’ll build proof-of-concept applications on Airwallex, deliver technical demonstrations and help clients visualise the successful target state.

• Guide customers and partners through multi-system REST API integrations, troubleshoot technical issues and apply best practices to create a strong developer experience.

• Provide strategic insights to Product and Engineering teams on improvements that reduce time to go live, remove friction and accelerate time to transaction.

• Own technical deliverables across the end-to-end project delivery lifecycle, ensuring they’re captured and delivered against the project plan.

• Work closely with engineers, product managers, sales teams and C-level stakeholders to deliver compliant solutions that meet customer goals across APAC.

This role is based in Hong Kong, with the expectation that you’ll work from the office five days a week.

What we're looking for

Essentials

• A bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, with strong academic achievement.

• 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing engineering role such as Solutions Consultant, Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer or IT Consultant.

• Strong problem-solving skills and comfort working with customers, partners and engineering teams to develop new products and solutions.

• Working knowledge of at least one major programming language, such as PHP, Ruby, Python, JavaScript or Java.

• Experience integrating RESTful APIs into web applications.

• Professional-level or native English and Mandarin communication skills, as you’ll work with customers across APAC.

Preferred

• Experience in payments, fintech or financial services.

• Experience integrating with major accounting platforms such as Xero, NetSuite, Fusion Cloud or QuickBooks.

• Experience developing proof-of-concept applications and delivering technical demonstrations to customers.

• Strong executive engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and relationships with decision-makers at all levels.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple opportunities and customers.

Merchant Services at Airwallex is made up of two teams: Solutions Engineering and Technical Support, working together to turn customer-facing technical work into product progress. Across both teams, we help businesses design, integrate, launch, optimize, and scale on Airwallex's global financial infrastructure, covering solution architecture, delivery, technical account management, optimisation, and support.

The mandate is simple: solve for the customer in front of us, and build for the customers we haven't met yet. Sitting close to Product, Engineering, and Design means the patterns you see in real customer integrations can become better APIs, documentation, tooling, onboarding paths, and product capabilities. The hard part is doing both at once: shipping for today's customer without losing the signal that improves the product for the next.

This is a team for people who can earn trust with builders, reason through complex systems, communicate clearly, and stay grounded in commercial outcomes. If you want to work at the intersection of agentic finance, customer impact, and product development, this is where your work compounds.
