Senior Staff Software Engineer Growth Onboarding
Summary
A senior engineer leads the end-to-end onboarding experience for Gusto’s HR platform, blending data modeling, UI design, and AI-driven automation to streamline customer activation while mentoring peers and setting technical standards.
You will own the signup-to-activation experience end to end, working across data models, user interfaces, AI-powered onboarding, and multiple customer entry points. You will invent and prototype new experiences, validate hypotheses with customers, make pragmatic technical decisions, and raise engineering standards through code, reviews, technical direction, and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Own signup-to-activation experiences end to end
- Build data models and user interfaces
- Invent and prototype AI-powered onboarding experiences
- Partner with Product Design and Data to validate hypotheses
- Identify opportunities to reduce customer effort with AI
- Design modular and reusable onboarding components
- Provide technical direction and conduct code reviews
- Mentor engineers
- Scope and ship iterative product improvements
Requirements
- 10-12+ years of software engineering experience
- Customer-facing product development at scale
