Senior Sustainability Manager – Accreditation and Quality Assurance

Summary

Lead accreditation strategy and quality management for ISCC's sustainability certification system from the Cologne HQ, coordinating cross-functional initiatives around ISO, GRI, and EU CSRD standards.

ISCC – International Sustainability and Carbon Certification is one of the leading certification systems for sustainability, traceability and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

To strengthen our ISCC EU team, we are looking forward to welcoming you as a Senior Sustainability Manager – Accreditation and Quality Assurance at our headquarters in Cologne.

In this role, you will play a key part in driving ISCC’s accreditation and quality management initiatives. You will lead the development and implementation of our accreditation strategy and serve as the primary point of contact for quality management within ISCC. This role involves coordinating how ISCC designs, measures, communicates, and continuously improves quality management efforts.

Your main duties will be:
  • Coordinating internal efforts to maintain and achieve suitability of ISCC schemes for accreditation
  • Leading the development and implementation of ISCC’s accreditation strategy and related initiatives
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for accreditation and quality management matters within ISCC
  • Further developing and maintaining the ISCC management system in line with the type and scope of services provided by ISCC
  • Ensuring the effective implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the ISCC management system
  • Coordinating and prioritising quality management and other cross-functional initiatives within the ISCC EU team
  • Managing continuous improvement initiatives related to ISCC schemes, processes, and services
  • Representing ISCC in external events, accreditation forums, working groups, and industry dialogues
  • Supporting the definition and monitoring of relevant budgets and KPIs
  • Building and maintaining a professional network and visibility in relevant communities
  • Supporting the implementation of state-of-the-art technology and digitalisation in quality management processes
  • Mentoring junior colleagues and students and fostering a culture of learning and collaboration
  • University degree in quality management, process management, sustainability, business, economics, environmental science, circular economy, or another relevant field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in sustainability and/or quality-related roles, including 3–5 years in a senior or leadership role
  • Demonstrated experience with certification systems, sustainability standards, auditing, accreditation, quality management, standardisation, or related fields (e.g. ISO, GRI, EU CSRD, or ISEAL)
  • Strong experience in internal audits, quality management systems, and continuous improvement processes
  • Excellent understanding of legal, regulatory, accreditation, and standardisation requirements, with the ability to interpret and translate complex texts into practical solutions
  • Good knowledge of ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS, and ISCC CORSIA is an asset
  • Excellent German (C2-level or native speaker) and English (C1-level) skills
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex, cross-functional projects in an international environment
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and risk assessment skills, combined with excellent attention to detail
  • Very good leadership, communication, networking, and presentation skills
  • Interest in digitalisation and technology-driven process improvements
  • Willingness to travel internationally
