Senior Systems Administrator

Position Overview

Senior Systems Administrator in support of the Anti‑Terrorism Force‑Protection (AT/FP) program with the United States Navy, based in Bahrain. Requires 25% or more travel; additional sites include Isa Air Base and Djibouti. Supports CNIC PSS Ashore Program, designing, procuring, installing, and sustaining systems to protect mission‑critical assets.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain systems and components, including installing, configuring, and updating hardware and software.
  • Establish and manage user accounts; oversee or conduct backup and recovery tasks.
  • Implement operational and technical security controls in line with organizational policies.
  • Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle.
  • Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment.
  • Provide preventive and corrective maintenance, information assurance, asset management, technical system updates, service call resolution, and configuration management for C4I systems worldwide.
  • Patch management and testing; STIG implementation, remediation, and mitigation.
  • Information assurance/security; host‑based security/anti‑virus and data backup solutions.
  • System administration and engineering support for Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, VMware ESXi, vSphere, and Cisco iOS.

Required Qualifications

  • Current and active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 4 years of systems administration experience, or high school diploma with at least 8 years of experience.
  • CompTIA Security+ (minimum) or higher DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Experience managing Windows Active Directory, Group Policy, VMware ESXi, and data backup solutions such as BackupExec and Macrium Reflect.
  • Experience with vulnerability remediation and STIG configuration for system hardening.
  • Ability to multitask and train or assist others in resolving system‑related issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to create Standard Operating Procedure documentation and technical publications.
  • Familiarity with DoD networking and security accreditation requirements.
  • Ability to support projects at client sites with varying conditions.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (25% or more).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Trellix (McAfee) HBSS, ACAS, SCAP, STIGs, VRAM, eMASS, and DoD RMF.
  • Experience with Navy Anti‑Terrorism/Force Protection systems.
  • Database solutions such as Microsoft SQL or Oracle SQL.
  • CCNA certification.
  • Experience with Navy Emergency Management Systems.
