Senior Systems Analyst (Azure DevOps)
Stafford Gray is looking for a senior Systems Analyst to support a large public-sector IT organization. This is a hands-on analyst role for someone who can sit between the business and the development team: understand the problem, define the solution, write specifications developers can build from, and keep the system healthy after go-live. Azure DevOps (ADO) is central to how this team works, so deep, day-to-day ADO experience is required.
What you’ll do
- Work with business units to understand current processes, identify problems, and define input, output, data, and reporting requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions, including cost/benefit analysis, and recommend the best path forward.
- Write detailed functional and technical specifications, including program functions, record formats, and the steps needed to build or modify a system.
- Assess whether requested changes are feasible within existing system capabilities, constraints, and schedules.
- Study existing systems for effectiveness and design improvements to meet current and future needs.
- Produce technical documentation, including reports, process flows, diagrams, data flows, and user/instructional manuals.
- Support developers in resolving issues related to specifications and requirements, and coordinate the work of others to develop, test, and deploy changes.
- Provide technical support for application issues and for data sharing with external partners.
- Support and maintain systems after implementation, including upgrades and defect resolution.
- Contribute recommendations on system security, interfaces, and technology planning.

- Bachelor’s degree. Computer Science, CIS, or MIS is preferred.
- Strong understanding of system capabilities and limitations, software development, databases, and programming concepts.
- Ability to work independently and with management and stakeholders on complex problems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write and revise standards and procedures and to train others.
- Must live within 90 miles of Lansing, MI (48933) at time of submission.
Nice to have
- Public-sector or regulated-industry experience.
