Senior Systems Engineer - fixed term
Salary: Market salary, 37.5-hour week, carparking
Technology plays a critical role in everything we do at Christchurch Airport. From the systems that support day-to-day operations through to the platforms that enable our people to work effectively, reliability, security and resilience matter.
The opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Digital and Technology team for an 11-month fixed-term opportunity. You'll help design, support and enhance the infrastructure, cloud and workplace technologies that underpin a complex operational environment while working alongside a team that values practical solutions, continuous improvement and technical excellence.
This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad technology landscape spanning cloud services, identity, security, automation, infrastructure and end-user platforms. You'll contribute to meaningful projects, help shape technical standards and partner with experienced colleagues to deliver reliable technology outcomes for the wider business
For an experienced engineer, it's a chance to spend 11 months in an environment that most technology professionals never get exposure to, applying your skills within a business that operates around the clock and relies on technology every day.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have solid systems, cloud or infrastructure engineering experience and the confidence to work through complex technical challenges. You don’t need to have worked in an airport before, and we’re not expecting one person to be an expert in every technology listed in the position profile.
We are interested in your ability to:
- design, implement and support enterprise technology platforms
- work across cloud, infrastructure, identity and modern workplace environments
- apply sound cyber security and risk-management practices
- troubleshoot complex issues with a practical, customer-focused approach
- contribute to projects from design through to implementation
- share your knowledge, support colleagues and act as a technical escalation point
- build constructive relationships with peers, stakeholders, vendors and technology partners.
Relevant qualifications, breadth of industry experience and certifications will help, but just as important will be your curiosity, judgement and willingness to get involved. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, communicating clearly and finding solutions that work for both the technology and the people who rely on it.
Why join us?
Few technology environments offer the scope, pace and operational interest of an airport. This is an opportunity to broaden your experience, contribute to technology that matters and see the real-world impact of your work.
You’ll join a collaborative Digital and Technology team that values continuous improvement, practical innovation and looking after one another. You’ll have opportunities to share your expertise with others, champion good engineering practices and contribute to technical leadership across the team.
Applications are set to close on 27 September, but if you're interested, don't delay in applying as we may close the advert early.
