Senior Web Engineer
Summary
PaymentSense is hiring a Senior Web Engineer in London (office-first, 4+ days/week) to design and build customer-facing web applications in its Customer Apps team. Core stack: React, TypeScript, Next.js, with Jest/Cypress testing, CSS-in-JS, and GraphQL API integration.
Salary: £25,000 - 65,000 per year
Requirements
- Professional experience in frontend web development, with expert knowledge of React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
- A deep understanding of modern frontend architecture, including state management, component patterns, and hooks.
- Experience with web testing frameworks such as Jest or Cypress and CSS-in-JS libraries such as Vanilla Extract or Emotion.
- A solid grasp of CI/CD processes, version control with Git, and how backend APIs like GraphQL integrate with frontend systems.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience contributing to a design system such as Storybook is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards is a strong plus.
Responsibilities
- Technically design and develop new product features using modern frontend technologies, writing high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Collaborate with design and product teams to define user experiences and technical requirements, ensuring we build features that solve customer problems.
- Participate actively in code reviews, architectural discussions, and team planning to drive our technical direction forward.
- Contribute to our collaborative web engineering culture by participating in the Web Chapter.
- Mentor junior colleagues in modern best practices.
