Summary

Senior integration developer who designs, builds, and maintains enterprise integrations on the Workato platform — recipes, Ruby-SDK custom connectors, and REST/SOAP APIs linking systems like SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Shopify. Includes data transformation, monitoring, root-cause troubleshooting, and on-call production support.

Role Overview

ETG Digital is looking for a skilled Senior Workato Integration Developer with strong hands-on experience in designing, developing, and managing enterprise integrations using the Workato platform.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Workato recipes, API development, custom connector development, data transformation, and integration architecture. You will be responsible for building reliable, scalable, and secure integrations across enterprise applications, including ERP, CRM, ITSM, and e-commerce platforms.

This role requires a combination of technical expertise, integration design capabilities, troubleshooting skills, and a strong understanding of enterprise integration best practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Integration Design & Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain Workato recipes integrating enterprise applications such as SAP, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, ServiceNow, Shopify, and custom APIs.
  • Implement integration patterns, including point-to-point, hub-and-spoke, publish-subscribe, and event-driven architectures.
  • Translate business requirements and process flows into scalable, maintainable Workato recipes with robust error handling and retry mechanisms.
  • Develop custom connectors using Workato's Connector SDK when standard connectors do not meet business requirements.

2. API & Middleware Management

  • Design, develop, secure, and publish REST and SOAP APIs using Workato's API Platform.
  • Implement API authentication and authorization mechanisms, including OAuth 2.0, API keys, JWT, and Basic Authentication.
  • Manage API versioning, rate limits, and throttling to ensure secure and reliable communication with downstream systems.
  • Support API integrations for internal applications, external partners, and enterprise platforms.

3. Data Transformation & Workflow Orchestration

  • Perform complex data transformations using Workato formula functions, Ruby snippets, and JSON/XML manipulation.
  • Build multi-step workflows using conditional branching, loops, lookups, and parallel execution.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency through deduplication, upsert operations, validation, and conflict resolution.
  • Design real-time and batch integrations based on business requirements, processing volumes, and latency expectations.

4. Monitoring, Reliability & Production Support

  • Configure job monitoring, alerts, and dashboards to proactively identify integration failures and performance issues.
  • Maintain integration uptime and data freshness in line with agreed service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform root-cause analysis, troubleshoot failed jobs, and communicate resolution updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain operational runbooks and participate in on-call support for production incidents, as required.

5. Integration Governance & Best Practices

  • Maintain technical documentation, including data-flow diagrams, recipe inventories, configuration details, and change logs.
  • Follow standardized naming conventions, recipe folder structures, and environment promotion practices across Development, QA, and Production.
  • Conduct peer reviews of recipes and custom connectors to ensure code quality, reliability, security, and maintainability.
  • Implement version control and change-management practices to support controlled and auditable integration deployments.

Required Skills & Experience

A. Core Workato Expertise Mandatory

  • 48 years of hands-on Workato development experience, including building and maintaining production-grade recipes.
  • Strong understanding of recipe design, job concurrency, callable recipes, and recipe lifecycle management.
  • Practical experience with Workato's API Platform, including API development, security configuration, and publishing.
  • Hands-on experience developing custom connectors using Workato's Ruby-based Connector SDK.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex integration scenarios and optimize recipes for performance, reliability, and scalability.

B. Integration & Architecture Skills

  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, messaging, routing, data transformation, and workflow orchestration.
  • Experience integrating ERP platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 365.

  • Proficiency in REST/SOAP APIs, webhooks, and EDI.
  • Familiarity with event-driven messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka, Amazon SQS, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with file-based integrations using SFTP/FTP, Amazon S3, and SharePoint.

C. Technical Foundations

  • Working knowledge of SQL for data lookups, joins, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with Ruby or Python for custom scripting and integration development.
  • Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Knowledge of SaaS application APIs, authentication mechanisms, and secure data exchange.
  • Experience with Git-based version control for recipe exports, change tracking, and release management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workato Automation Pro I and Pro II certifications are preferred.
  • Workato Automation Pro III or Workato Certified Consultant certification is a strong advantage.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale integrations across multiple business applications.
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices, integration testing, and automated deployment processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
