Robert Dietrick Company (RDC) is seeking an experienced, mechanically skilled Service Technician to join our Operations team!As a Service Technician, you will travel to customer locations to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and install loading dock equipment, industrial doors, specialty lifts, and other commercial and industrial equipment. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while representing RDC professionally at customer sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment repair, manufacturing equipment, field service, construction, or another skilled mechanical trade who is looking to apply their technical background in a growing and specialized industry.
Previous dock and door experience is not required; however, candidates must have a solid mechanical foundation and hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, disassembling, and reassembling equipment or machinery. If you understand how mechanical equipment works, can identify and troubleshoot problems, and are comfortable taking equipment apart and putting it back together, RDC will provide the specialized training needed to work in the dock and door industry and learn the RDC Way.
Technician Responsibilities
- Travel to customer locations using a company-provided vehicle.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment issues.
- Inspect, repair, maintain, and service loading dock equipment, industrial doors, specialty lifts, and related commercial and industrial equipment.
- Disassemble equipment to diagnose issues and complete necessary repairs.
- Reassemble, align, adjust, and test equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Install new or refurbished equipment according to specifications, plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Identify the cause of equipment failures and determine the appropriate repair or replacement.
- Use hand tools, power tools, hoists, jacks, measuring devices, and other equipment safely and effectively.
- Conduct equipment testing and make adjustments to ensure proper performance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
- Identify equipment that is unsafe or requires removal from service and properly red tag equipment when necessary.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, work orders, and technical documentation.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment concerns, repairs, and service needs.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional work environment.
- Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to service, repairs, and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Previous experience as a Service Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Heavy Equipment Technician, or similar technical role.
- Vocational school, trade school, technical certifications, or an associate degree in a mechanical or technical field.
- Previous experience working independently in a field service environment.
