Shop Manager
Position Summary
The Shop Manager (SM) is responsible for overseeing all aspects of shop operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, efficient workflow, and a safe, productive environment. This leadership role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team. The Shop Manager is accountable for staffing, inventory control, financial performance, and maintaining company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operational Management
- Supervise shop floor operations, ensuring technicians are properly assigned and vehicles are serviced thoroughly.
- Perform opening and closing procedures.
- Monitor and adjust inventory levels; conduct End of Period (EOP) and End of Year (EOY) inventory.
- Place product orders and manage stock levels.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new team members.
- Motivate the team, hold members accountable, and make personnel decisions.
- Conduct quarterly employee evaluations and submit payroll.
- Create and manage crew schedules.
- Train and develop team members to ensure consistent performance and growth.
- Serve as a role model, promoting a positive and professional work environment.
- Ensure the crew consistently delivers excellent customer experiences.
- Check in with customers before they leave to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns.
- Understand and manage shop financials to drive results and meet or exceed budget goals.
Technical Duties
- Drain motor oil, replace oil filters, and grease chassis fittings.
- Wash windshields and adjust tire pressure.
- Inspect and top off vehicle fluids.
- Assist customers in selecting oil types and additional services.
- Deliver excellent customer service both verbally and in writing.
- Process payments for services rendered.
- Perform coolant exchanges and fill services.
- Restock and maintain inventory on the shop floor.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop, office, and bathrooms.
- Perform any and all other assigned duties.
