Shopify Developer — Full-Stack E-Commerce & App Integration

This is not a basic theme customization role. You'll be building custom Shopify apps, AI integrations, headless storefronts, subscription systems, and merchant-facing analytics dashboards for international clients across the US, UK, EU, and GCC.

Our Shopify project pipeline is growing. We need a developer who understands Shopify at a deep level — not just theme edits, but custom app architecture, AI integrations, dynamic e-commerce logic, and subscription systems for international clients.

What You'll Work On

• Custom Shopify app development — private and public apps built from scratch
• AI API integrations embedded into Shopify workflows and themes
• Dynamic product configurators tied to Shopify's cart and checkout
• Headless Shopify storefronts using React/Next.js connected to Storefront API
• Subscription and recurring billing systems within Shopify ecosystems
• Payment gateway integrations — Stripe, Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay
• Merchant-facing analytics and reporting dashboards pulling live Shopify data
• Webhook-driven automation syncing Shopify with external services in real time
• Multi-currency, multi-language, and accessibility-compliant storefront builds
• Real-time dynamic pricing logic and custom checkout flows
• File storage integrations — AWS S3, Cloudinary — tied to Shopify product flows
• Marketing tool integrations — Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, Klaviyo, Mailchimp

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Build and deliver custom Shopify themes, apps, and integrations for international clients on clear deadlines
• Customize Liquid templates, sections, blocks, and snippets for fully branded storefronts
• Develop and maintain private and public Shopify apps using Shopify CLI, App Bridge, and OAuth
• Integrate external APIs — AI services, payment gateways, analytics tools — into Shopify workflows
• Set up and manage Shopify webhooks for real-time data sync and automation
• Implement subscription models, recurring billing, and tiered pricing within Shopify
• Build dynamic product configurators and personalization tools tied to cart and checkout
• Build merchant-facing analytics dashboards using Shopify data and visualization librariesCollaborate with PMs, designers, and backend developers to translate client briefs into production-ready deliverables
• Conduct code reviews and maintain clean, documented, maintainable code
• Stay current with Shopify platform updates, API deprecations, and developer best practices

Must-Have Skills

Shopify Core

• Shopify theme development — Liquid templates, sections, blocks, snippets, filters
• Shopify Admin API and Storefront API — REST and GraphQL
• Shopify App Development — private apps, public apps, OAuth 2.0, session tokens, App Bridge
• Shopify CLI 3.x and Git-based theme workflows
• Shopify Checkout customization and checkout extensibility
• Shopify webhooks — setup, management, and real-time event handling
• At least one live, delivered custom Shopify app or significantly customized store you can demonstrate

Backend & Integrations

• Node.js or Express for Shopify app backends
• REST and GraphQL API consumption and integration
• Payment gateway integration — Stripe, Shopify Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay
• Dynamic pricing logic — custom rules, tiered models, and real-time cart calculations
• Database basics — PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or MySQL for app data persistence

Strong Advantage — Nice to Have

• Shopify Plus — Scripts, Launchpad, B2B, Checkout Extensibility, Flow
• Shopify Hydrogen and Oxygen for headless storefront deployment
• Shopify Subscriptions API and recurring billing implementation
• AI API integrations — OpenAI, Stability AI, LangChain — within Shopify apps
• WCAG 2.1 accessibility compliance — axe-core, ARIA, semantic HTML in Shopify themes
• Shopify Polaris component library for admin UI development
• Experience submitting apps to the Shopify App Store
• Ruby on Rails familiarity as Shopify's native backend framework

• Minimum 2 years of dedicated Shopify development experience
• A portfolio of real Shopify stores or apps you've built and can walk us through
• Agency or multi-client experience is a strong advantage
