Site Inspector (Track)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct
daily inspections of track works, including rail alignment, gauge, levels,
welds, fasteners, turnouts, and expansion gaps as per approved drawings.
- Verify track
geometry parameters (gauge, cross level, twist, and curvature) using
approved measurement instruments and record deviations.
- Monitor
compliance with project technical specifications, RDSO / AREMA / UIC
standards, and contractor quality plans.
- Prepare
inspection reports, non-conformance records, and daily logs in
coordination with the Resident Engineer.
- Supervise
concreting and plinth work, fastening system installation, pre-stressing
(if applicable), and rail welding activities.
- Check and
verify material deliveries (rails, clips, sleepers, insulators, etc.) for
type, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
- Participate
in joint inspections with the client (CMRL), EPC contractor, and GC for
pre-pour, pre-stressing, and track laying stages.
- Assist in
checking rail weld quality, NDT test results, and maintenance of track
inspection register.
- Monitor
track interface works with structures, signalling, and traction power
systems to prevent inter-discipline clashes.
- Ensure
safety compliance at site, including track possession schedules,
barricading, and communication with train operators.
- Support
testing and commissioning teams during track certification, load tests,
and trial runs.
- Ensure all
documentation (as-built drawings, checklists, and QA/QC records) is
completed and verified before submission.
Experience Criteria:
- Minimum
Experience: 3 years of total professional experience.
- Relevant
Experience: Minimum 1 year in Metro (Elevated or Underground) or Railway
track construction, inspection, or maintenance works.
- Preferred
exposure to ballastless track systems (LVT, FFU, RHEDA, etc.) and turnout
installations.
Role Objective:
Assist the contractor's Track Engineering Team in
monitoring, supervising, and ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to
technical specifications during construction of metro track works (both
elevated and underground).
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
- Diploma or
B.E./B.Tech from an AICTE/UGC approved institution.
- Equivalent
qualifications in rail technology or permanent way engineering may also be
considered.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of
Indian Railway Track Standards (RDSO/AREMA) and Metro Ballastless Track
Systems (such as LVT/FFU/Slab Track).Familiarity with survey instruments
such as total stations, track gauges, and levels.
- Ability to
read and interpret technical drawings and construction specifications.
- Good
communication and coordination skills to interact with contractors and
client teams.
- Knowledge of
Safety and Quality Management procedures applicable to metro rail
construction.
