Social and Behavioral Sciences - Psychology Department - Professor

Wagner College's Division of Social & Behavioral Sciences invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track faculty position in Criminal Justice beginning in August 2027.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will play an integral role in the continued growth of Wagner College's Human Services major by supporting its Criminal Justice concentration through teaching, advising, recruitment, and curriculum development.

Candidates should be prepared to teach undergraduate courses including The Criminal Justice System, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Law, Criminology, Law and Society, Introduction to Sociology, and other courses consistent with their expertise and the needs of the department. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in criminal justice, criminology, criminal law, criminal procedure, law and society, or related areas. Additional teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on the successful candidate's expertise and departmental needs.

In addition to teaching, the faculty member will advise and mentor undergraduate students, contribute to student recruitment and the continued growth of the Human Services major, maintain an active program of scholarship, and participate in departmental, divisional, and college service. Candidates holding a J.D. in addition to a Ph.D. are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, student mentoring, inclusive pedagogy, and scholarly research. The teaching load is 3/3, with opportunities to teach summer courses.
