Software Developer - Backend Services

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and skilled Software Developer specializing in backend services to join their growing IT department in Vereeniging . You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic that powers their core applications and platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and database management, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of their systems. You will work collaboratively with front-end developers and product managers to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and efficient backend APIs and services.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code using languages such as Java, Python, or C#.
• Optimize application performance, database queries, and server-side logic for speed and efficiency.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Implement and manage database schemas and data models to support application requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting of production issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
• Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Node.js).
• Strong understanding of database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data modeling concepts.
• Experience with RESTful API design principles and implementation.
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
