Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands‑on Software Developer to maintain and enhance legacy systems while supporting modernisation in a high‑pressure operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new features and system enhancements
- Maintain and stabilise legacy systems
- Troubleshoot production and critical issues
- Support real‑time operational systems
- Ensure security and data protection compliance
- Collaborate across business, ops, and IT
- Contribute to technical and architectural improvements
Core Skills (Mandatory):
- C++ (strong proficiency)
- SQL & Oracle RDBMS
- Linux/Unix
- Secure coding (OWASP, input validation, access control)
- Oracle Pro*C
Requirements:
- 3+ years development experience
- Degree/Diploma advantageous
- Proven delivery of production‑ready solutions
- On‑site in Midrand (full‑time, NDA required)
Advantageous:
- React / Next.js, Go, PHP
- Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Rule‑based systems, large datasets, batch processing
- Real‑time / 24/7 environments (e.g. logistics, transport, workforce planning)
Competencies:
- Strong problem‑solving and ownership
- Works under pressure
- Adaptable, resilient, detail‑oriented
- Able to work with complex, legacy codebases and incremental changes
