The Role

Are you a hands-on Java developer who enjoys building robust, scalable systems that matter? We are seeking a Software Developer / Software Programmer for a 12-month onsite contract assignment in Kuala Lumpur, working within a large enterprise environment in the financial services sector. You will be part of a collaborative delivery team, shaping backend services and microservices while keeping production environments stable and high-performing.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and microservices
• Design and implement scalable APIs and backend services
• Support project delivery, production stability, and performance optimisation
• Collaborate with architects, business stakeholders, QA, and DevOps teams
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of hands‑on Java development experience (Java 11/17)
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, microservices, and REST API development
• Database development experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL
• Familiarity with cloud‑native development and container platforms such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker
• Working knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and Git, with Agile/Scrum delivery experience
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Banking or financial services experience is an advantage
