We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems and services.

The role requires strong expertise in Python 3.x, FastAPI/Flask, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL/MySQL, Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP. You will work on distributed and microservices-based applications, building reliable APIs and backend services that can support demanding workloads and evolving business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python 3.x.
  • Build robust RESTful APIs and backend services using FastAPI and/or Flask.
  • Design and implement microservices and distributed backend architectures.
  • Develop efficient database solutions using SQLAlchemy ORM, including session management and transaction handling.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL and/or MySQL databases.
  • Perform database query optimization, indexing, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop applications using appropriate multithreading, concurrency, and asynchronous programming patterns.
  • Ensure backend services are thread-safe, reliable, and capable of handling concurrent workloads.
  • Design scalable APIs following REST, OpenAPI, and Swagger standards.
  • Containerize applications using Docker and deploy and manage workloads using Kubernetes.
  • Deploy, configure, monitor, and maintain applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Identify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and production issues.
  • Develop unit tests and maintain high standards for code quality, maintainability, and test coverage.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define technical solutions and implementation approaches.
  • Contribute to system architecture, technical documentation, and design reviews.
  • Monitor application health and identify opportunities for improving reliability, observability, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and implement improvements to backend architecture, development processes, and engineering practices.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in Python backend development.
  • Strong expertise in Python 3.x and object-oriented programming.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with FastAPI and/or Flask.
  • Strong experience with SQLAlchemy ORM, session management, database transactions, and efficient data access.
  • Solid understanding of multithreading, concurrency, asynchronous programming, and thread-safe application development.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL, including database design, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience deploying and managing applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OpenAPI, and Swagger.
  • Good understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, scalability, and high-performance application design.
  • Strong experience with Git, code reviews, unit testing, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and performance-optimization skills.
  • Ability to design reliable backend systems and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to independently drive technical initiatives from design through production.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
