Software Engineer (AS400)- Contract

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications and IT systems in accordance with business and technical requirements.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application, system, and infrastructure issues to ensure system availability and performance.
• Perform system administration, configuration, and maintenance for Windows Servers, Linux, VMware vSphere, and AS400 environments.
• Develop and execute SQL queries to support application maintenance, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
• Schedule, monitor, and manage batch jobs using BMC Control-M.
• Manage incidents, problems, and change requests using the BMCRemedy Ticketing System while meeting agreed service levels.
• Support backup, recovery, and endpoint security operations using Symantec Backup and Symantec Endpoint Protection.
• Develop and execute test plans and support system integration, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment, and production releases.
• Prepare and maintain system documentation, operational procedures, and technical reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and continuous service improvements.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, operational procedures, and IT governance standards.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications based on business and technical requirements.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere.
• Proficiency in SQL queries for troubleshooting and data analysis.
• Experience administering Windows Servers, Linux, and AS400 environments.
• Experience using BMC Control-M for workload automation and job scheduling.
• Experience with BMC Remedy Ticketing System for incident and change management.
• Knowledge of Symantec Backup and Symantec Endpoint Protection.
• Experience in test planning, system testing, and production support.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
