My client is a fast-growing quantitative trading firm that is entering an exciting phase of global expansion.
The firm is growing its trading activities across international markets and establishing new offices in Singapore and Hong Kong. Singapore will become the firm's global headquarters, making this an especially exciting time to join as they build out their international engineering, research and trading capabilities.
Technology sits at the heart of the business, with engineers working directly alongside quantitative researchers to build, optimise and operate the systems underpinning sophisticated systematic trading strategies across global financial markets.
As part of this expansion, they are looking for a Quantitative Engineer to work across the development, performance and reliability of their equity and futures trading systems, with a particular focus on supporting the firm's continued growth into global equities markets.
This is a highly technical engineering role combining software development, systems engineering and ownership of production trading infrastructure, with direct exposure to quantitative researchers and live trading strategies.
THE ROLE
- Develop and maintain equity and futures trading systems operating in a live quantitative trading environment.
- Support the firm's continued expansion into global equities markets, working on systems used across multiple markets and trading venues.
- Work closely with Quantitative Researchers to deploy, iterate and productionise systematic trading strategies.
- Take ownership of the reliability, availability and performance of business-critical trading systems.
- Improve the quality and stability of online services through strong engineering practices and automation.
- Diagnose and resolve production incidents during live trading hours, including critical technical issues.
- Optimise trading and order execution systems across areas including computation, storage, networking and hardware resources.
- Build engineering tools and automation to improve developer productivity and system reliability.
- Contribute across the full production lifecycle, from development and deployment through to monitoring, optimisation and ongoing iteration.
- Work in a highly collaborative environment alongside quantitative researchers and experienced engineers.
WHO THEY'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience working with equities, with exposure to global equities, electronic trading or multi-market trading environments particularly valuable.
- Strong programming ability in either:
- C++ plus a scripting language, or Python plus a strongly typed language such as Java, Go or Rust.
- Strong Linux knowledge and confidence working with production systems.
- Good understanding of the full production lifecycle of online services and engineering approaches to improving system reliability.
- Familiarity with engineering best practices including Git, code review and CI/CD.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and systems-thinking ability.
- Strong interest in quantitative trading and financial markets.
- Fluent Chinese and English communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE
- Experience working on global equities trading systems, electronic trading platforms, order management or execution systems.
- Experience maintaining mission-critical, highly complex or large-scale production systems.
- Strong system-design skills, particularly around performance, reliability and availability.
- Exposure to systematic trading, futures or other electronic markets.
- Strong competitive-programming background, including participation in ACM/ICPC, NOI/NOIP or similar informatics competitions.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The firm is entering a major phase of international expansion, with new operations across Singapore and Hong Kong, and Singapore set to become its global headquarters.
Engineers joining now will be part of the early build-out of the firm’s international technology platform as trading expands across global equities and other international markets.
You will work close to the core of the trading business, building and improving systems where performance, reliability and engineering quality directly impact live trading. The role involves close collaboration with Quantitative Researchers, helping take strategies from development into production and ensuring they operate efficiently at scale.
There is also broad exposure across software and systems engineering, including trading applications, production troubleshooting, and performance optimisation across compute, networking, storage and hardware.
For strong Python or C++ engineers with equities or electronic trading experience, this is an opportunity to join an established quantitative trading business at a pivotal stage of growth and help build its next generation of global trading infrastructure.
The firm offers highly competitive compensation, strong long-term career development and significant ownership as the international platform continues to scale.
