Project focus
You’ll join a small AI/Data engineering team that scrapes and enriches external data, loads it into a data warehouse, and surfaces insights to customers through BI dashboards. This is a generalist engineering role with a BI specialism: dashboard work is the smaller part of the day-to-day, and the majority of your time will be spent on backend (Java/Python) and data pipeline engineering. You’ll work alongside two Java engineers, an AI engineer, and a data engineer, on an AWS-based stack.
Key skills and Experience required
- Strong Java and/or Python experience applied to data pipeline and data-processing work, not purely application/backend development
- Advanced SQL: complex queries, performance tuning, and working with warehouse data models
- Hands-on experience building dashboards in a BI tool such as QuickSight, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker (QuickSight experience is a strong plus, but not essential)
- Comfortable working with data warehouses, transformations, and data quality in an analytical context
- Clear communicator, able to explain data and system behaviour to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Nice to have: AWS data services (S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift), exposure to ETL/data scraping pipelines, cloud-native and CI/CD experience
