What you'll do

  • Design and implement features as well as proofs of concept across various modules, carefully balancing security requirements with performance considerations.
  • Continuously maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment methodologies to ensure smooth and efficient software delivery.
  • Create and uphold unit and integration tests to guarantee the quality and reliability of the codebase.
  • Identify and address technical debt, proposing actionable improvements to boost the team's productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor metrics and error rates following deployments to swiftly address and resolve any incidents that arise.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of AI-generated code, focusing on aspects such as security, correctness, and maintainability to ensure high standards are met.
  • Ensure that technical tasks are aligned with the overarching objectives of the team and contribute to the business's value proposition.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Participate in regular code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of coding standards and practices within the team.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to bring innovative ideas to the team.
  • Assist in mentoring junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of learning and growth.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on DevOps or cloud infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of developing shared infrastructure or scalable cloud solutions that meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Experience in advocating for engineering standards and facilitating platform adoption across different teams.
  • Strong proficiency in cloud services, particularly AWS, with additional experience in Azure or Google Cloud being advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, networking principles, security protocols, and cloud architecture best practices.
  • Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and Infrastructure as Code tools, specifically Terraform.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like TypeScript and Node.js, as well as Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Previous involvement in government-related projects, particularly those utilizing the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC).
  • Experience with observability tools and practices to enhance system monitoring and performance.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.
