Software Engineer I

Key Responsibilities

• Independently complete small- to medium-sized features and defects
• Participate in team planning activities
• Able to triage simple issues independently, and more complex issues with some assistance
• Participate in technical design and review of features, with guidance
• Consistently follow best practices and guidelines
• Help to mentor new team members
• Know how to prioritize your own work
• Understand the business supported by your applications
• Proactively communicate status and issues to their manager
• Propose ideas within the team to increase effectiveness through automation
• Focused learning to attain expertise in one or more technical areas
• Show a commitment to delivery deadlines, in particular seasonal and vendor partner deadlines that are critical to Best Buys continued success

Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience with a bachelors or associate degree, OR equivalent. Including:
  • Strong programming skills in Java/Javascript
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Appium for mobile test automation
    • Automation frameworks such as TestNG or JUnit
    • Experience with API testing using libraries like Rest Assured
    • Strong understanding of test frameworks and automation design patterns
    • Solid understanding of SQL for data validation and backend testing
    • Experience testing eCommerce platforms or transactional systems
    • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
    • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred

• Good understanding towards eCommerce flows such as:
• Product discovery & search
• Cart & checkout
• Payments & order management
• Performfunctional, regression, integration, and API testing
• Design, develop, and maintainautomated test frameworksusingJava-based tools
• Build and executemobile automation tests using Appium(iOS/Android)
• Strong understanding of QA fundamentals with a quality-first mindset and the ability to identify risks and gaps in requirements.
• Exposure to test automation using Java or JavaScript and familiarity with automation frameworks; should be eager to learn and grow in automation.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders

• This position is based in Bengaluru.
• Best Buy India operates under a hybrid work model (in office / remote) with an expectation for employees to be in the office three days a week Generally, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
