Software Engineer (Java/Kotlin)

We're partnering with a leading Norwegian technology consultancy to find an experienced Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and building high-quality software in collaborative, agile teams.

The Role
As a Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and maintaining robust applications using Java and Kotlin. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performing software while contributing to architectural decisions and engineering best practices.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys building quality software, solving challenging problems and working closely with both colleagues and customers.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain enterprise-grade software applications using Java and Kotlin.
- Deliver clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Work closely with architects, product teams and fellow engineers throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to solution architecture.
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability and reliability.
- Take ownership of features from concept through to deployment.
- Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for engineers who can demonstrate:
- Minimum 4 years' commercial software development experience.
- Strong experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
- Experience building modern backend applications.
- Good understanding of object-oriented design principles and software architecture.
- Experience working within Agile development teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- A passion for writing high-quality, maintainable code.
Requirements
- Norwegian language skills at B2 level or above (spoken and written).
- Eligible to work in Norway.
- Comfortable working from the Kongsberg office as required.
