Job Description:

This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, coding solutions, unit testing, and ensuring the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust, and well-tested interfaces. Job expectations include an awareness of development and testing practices in the industry.

Responsibilities:

• Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
• Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements
• Performs Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) activities
• Contributes to story refinement and definition of requirements
• Participates in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle
• Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause
• Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
• Automates manual release activities
• Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)
• Develop, enhance, test, and maintain complex software solutions that meet functional, non-functional, technical, and compliance requirements.
• Participate in story refinement and requirements definition, helping translate business and technical requirements into implementable software solutions.
• Participate in and help guide estimation of development work throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
• Design and develop significant application components using established architectural patterns, engineering standards, and reusable design principles.
• Develop high-quality code and unit tests in accordance with defined acceptance criteria and engineering standards.
• Perform technical spikes and proofs of concept to evaluate potential solutions, reduce technical uncertainty, and support implementation decisions.
• Utilize application, data, and integration architecture components when designing and developing solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex technical problems, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with other engineers to resolve development and integration issues.
• Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to maintaining code quality, maintainability, security, and engineering standards.
• Develop and maintain application interfaces and integrations, including APIs and microservices.

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience delivering enterprise applications.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Java and object-oriented programming principles.
• Experience designing, developing, and integrating RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed application components.
• Demonstrated ability to develop significant application components and conduct effective peer code reviews.
• Experience translating functional, non-functional, technical, and compliance requirements into well-designed, maintainable software.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, common design patterns, data structures, and application architecture.
• Experience developing unit tests and contributing to automated integration, regression, and performance test suites.
• Experience analyzing test results, troubleshooting defects, identifying root causes, and resolving technical issues.
• Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data modeling, and database integration.
• Experience with source-control and collaborative development practices, including branching, pull requests, code merges, and conflict resolution.
• Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines and software build, deployment, and release processes.
• Working knowledge of Agile software delivery practices, including story refinement, estimation, sprint planning, and delivery against acceptance criteria.
• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation supporting deployment, maintenance, production support, and application functionality.
• Understanding of secure coding, information security, risk, compliance, and change-management requirements within an enterprise environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and team-collaboration skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience developing cloud-based applications using Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services.
• Experience with serverless technologies such as Azure Functions or AWS Lambda.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization and orchestration technologies.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed data-storage patterns.
• Experience with Python, C#, JavaScript, or related development languages in addition to Java.
• Experience with application performance analysis, scalability, resiliency, reliability, and operational readiness.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools used for automated build, testing, deployment, monitoring, and release management.
• Experience working with Jira, Kanban, or comparable Agile work-management tools.
• Familiarity with production-support processes, incident and problem management, patching, and application resiliency.
• Experience working in financial services, payments, or another highly regulated technology environment.
• Relevant cloud, Java, DevOps, or software-development certification
