Software Engineer II

Summary

Backend engineer building and optimizing APIs for a travel platform serving 50+ million users, using Java/Spring Boot and event-driven architectures.

We are tackling misinformation in travel apps, ensuring a smooth experience for our 50+ million users.

Responsibilities

  • Build and extend backend code based on SOLID principles and clean code.
  • Build APIs that serve our frontend apps – benchmark and improve performance.
  • Maintain and extend our test suite.
  • Refactor and improve existing code to incorporate better patterns.
  • Document and write about the work.
  • Create unit tests and implement self-tests to ensure the code runs well.
  • Assist the technical lead in reviewing and following up on code that has been developed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • 2+ years of experience in backend development.
  • Proficient with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with RDBMS or NoSQL databases, with demonstrated ability to analyze indexing strategies and design table schemas.
  • Experience with Redis and Memcached is a plus.
  • Experience with Elastic Search.
  • Experience with CI/CD, TDD, refactor/rewrite system.
  • Experience with event‑driven architecture such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Experience with Git Flow.
  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Proficient in log analysis and debugging.
  • Experience with pair programming is a plus.
  • Experience with Linux syntax, Docker is a plus.
  • Good sense of prioritization and product ownership.
  • Strong critical thinking, fast learner, excellent communication skills, and collaborative mindset – comfortable working across cross‑functional teams and communicating technical tradeoffs.
  • Well‑motivated, responsible for deadlines, and able to work under pressure.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools for coding, debugging, and documentation to boost engineering velocity.
