Software Engineer II – Public Cloud Enablement

As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design and deliver the software components to the firm's state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable and scalable way. Joining our Public Cloud team in Bournemouth, you will execute basic cloud-native software solutions through the design, development and troubleshooting of a single technical area within a business function, working primarily with Go (Golang) services running on Kubernetes, while gaining the skills and experience to grow within your role.

Job Responsibilities

• Executes basic software solution, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
• Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with peer guidance
• Interprets architecture and design representations as well as nonfunctional requirements to develop secure, stable software against a defined architecture
• Supports the design, build, and operation of resilient, scalable services deployed to AWS in line with firm-wide public cloud standards, with peer guidance
• Actively applies automation to reduce manual toil in the Software Development Life Cycle
• Addresses basic code quality issues
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
• Gathers, analyzes, and synthesizes basic data sets in service of technical troubleshooting and generating insights to drive continuous improvements
• Breaks down routine technical tasks to troubleshoot and solve issues
• Participates in software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging cloud technologies

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Baseline knowledge of software, applications and technical processes within a given technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, etc.)
• Ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, with a passion to build an inclusive and innovative culture
• Demonstrated ability to code in one or more languages
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI-generated outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement
• Proficiency in developmental toolsets
• Basic knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
• Basic understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

• Exposure to cloud technologies, ideally AWS
• Exposure to or interest in developing services in Go (Golang)
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration concepts (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Exposure to AI-assisted developer tools and AI agents (e.g., Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent) to improve engineering productivity, code quality, and knowledge acquisition
• Awareness of Infrastructure-as-Code tooling (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
• Familiarity with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace)
