Software Engineer

Jacobi builds an open-architecture SaaS platform for institutional multi-asset investment management—portfolio construction, risk analytics, custom workflows, and client-ready reporting on a shared data foundation. You’ll join engineers across Brisbane, London, and San Francisco shipping production software used by investment teams worldwide.

We’re looking for someone team-focused who likes solving problems with Python, Java, React, JavaScript, SQL and open-source tooling. You’ll use AI as part of day-to-day delivery, collaborate closely with other engineering teams on the Jacobi platform, and help bring proprietary quantitative models into production. In the role, you will:

• Contribute to Jacobi’s core platform by building and maintaining production features used by institutional investment teams.

• Architect and implement solutions to custom requirements for key clients

Must have:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering)

• 0-3 years experience in software development

• Proficiency in Java and Python with strong software development best practices

• Experience interacting with REST APIs

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a keen eye for detail

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment

• Curious with a passion for learning

Nice to have:

• JavaScript, TypeScript and/or React experience

• Databricks and Apache Spark experience

• Prior experience in client-facing roles and client engagement

• Knowledge and use of Git

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferably) and IaC tools (e.g. Terraform)

• Study, experience or knowledge in economics or finance
