Software Engineer (Mid-Senior)

Salary: circa $900 / daily depending on experience

About the Role

A specialist Australian defence technology business is looking for multiple mid-senior level engineers to join its team on a defence program. The role is hands-on and varied, spanning software development, build and release, and test and lab support. You'll work in a fully on-prem environment, report to a Project Lead and work alongside engineers across the program.

Highlights:

• Location: Melbourne, CBD

• Length: 12-month contract (possibility of extension)

• Security Clearance: NV1 clearance is strongly preferred, however, will consider Australian Citizens willing to obtain security clearance.
  

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain C++ software in a Linux environment

• Build and look after on-prem Jenkins CI/CD pipelines

• Automate GUI testing with Squish for Qt-based applications

• Set up and run test labs and test environments

• Support test management, planning and reporting

• Take part in code reviews and resolve defects

• Keep task estimates up to date and flag slippage early

• Suggest improvements to build, test and delivery tooling
  

Skills & Experience

• Current, hands-on C++ development skills in a Linux environment

• Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline delivery

• Comfortable moving between development, test and infrastructure work

• Able to work independently and to an agreed schedule

• Qt and Squish experience highly regarded

• Degree in computer science, engineering or similar, or equivalent work experience
