Software Engineer - QA
Summary
Software Engineer - QA responsible for designing, developing, and executing test strategies for digital banking applications, APIs, microservices, and web/mobile channels. Core technologies include Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, Karate, SQL, and knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and Microservices Architecture.
Main duties and day-to-day tasks expected from the resource
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for digital banking applications, APIs, microservices, and web/mobile channels.
- Perform functional, integration, system, regression, API, UAT, and end-to-end testing across banking platforms.
- Develop and maintain automated test suites to improve test coverage and release quality.
- Validate REST APIs, microservices, event-driven integrations, and backend services.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers, Architects, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.
- Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, defect triage, and release readiness assessments.
- Execute test automation within CI/CD pipelines and support shift-left quality practices.
- Ensure compliance with banking security, audit, performance, and regulatory requirements.
- Track, report, and manage defects through to resolution while ensuring quality gates are met.
Primary technical and functional skills
Strong experience in Manual Testing, API Testing, Integration Testing, and Automation Testing.
- Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, SoapUI, and API validation tools.
- Experience in automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Rest Assured, or Karate.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, XML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and Microservices Architecture.
- Experience with SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and database validation techniques.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Familiarity with GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, and SonarQube quality processes.
- Proficient in BDD/SDD practices, leveraging Gherkin and Cucumber to create executable specifications, automate acceptance tests, and improve collaboration between business and technical teams.
Specific domain or industry knowledge required
- 5+ years of QA experience with at least 3 years testing enterprise applications and APIs.
- Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Corporate Banking, Digital Banking, Payments, Lending, or FinTech domains.
- Strong understanding of API-driven architectures and microservices ecosystems.
- Experience in testing customer-facing applications with high availability and security requirements.
- Understanding of software quality assurance methodologies, defect management, and test automation best practices.Experience working in regulated and compliance-driven environments.
Additional skills that are an advantage but not mandatory
- Performance testing experience using JMeter, LoadRunner, or NeoLoad.
- Security testing experience including OWASP, API Security, and vulnerability assessment.
- Experience testing cloud-native applications deployed on Azure or AWS.
- Mobile application testing experience for Android and iOS platforms.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Event Hub, or messaging platforms.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing, test data management, and synthetic monitoring.

- Comprehensive test strategy, test plans, and test execution reports.
- Automated functional and API test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- API validation and quality assurance for banking services and integrations.
- Defect tracking, root cause analysis, and quality metrics reporting.
- Successful SIT, UAT, Regression, and Production Readiness sign-offs.
- Test evidence, compliance documentation, and audit-ready quality artefacts.
- Delivery of applications meeting agreed functional and non-functional requirements.
English mandatory; Arabic is preferred.
