Summary
Senior software engineer on a 12-month fixed-term contract (perm pathway) via recruiter Talenza with a Sydney healthcare organisation's internal engineering team. Day to day: designing, building and deploying cloud-native AWS applications for critical business systems using Java/Python/React, containers, CI/CD and AI-assisted dev tools. Hybrid, 2 days in office.
Salary: $140k - $150000.00 p.a. + +super

As part of this journey, they're looking to appoint a Senior Software Engineer to help deliver modern, cloud-native solutions that support critical business and operational systems.

Role Purpose:
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll design, build, and deploy scalable software solutions while contributing to architecture, technical leadership, and platform evolution.
You'll work closely with developers, infrastructure, security, and operations teams to deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing applications, while helping shape engineering standards and best practices across the organisation.
The business is investing heavily in AWS, AI-enabled development, automation, and modern software engineering practices, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the forefront of technology.
Technical Environment / Desired Experience:
- Strong experience with Java, Python, React, or similar modern technologies
- Experience building cloud-native applications on AWS
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, microservices, and event-driven systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
- Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, or similar container platforms
- Passion for clean code, mentoring, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence
