Software Engineer
Description
Here at TreQ, we are accelerating the path to useful quantum computing by designing, deploying, and operating open-architecture quantum computing infrastructure that evolves as quantum technologies advance.
We are shaping the future of quantum computing and as we expand, we are searching for a additional Software Engineer (C#/.NET worker services) your primary responsibility will be building a quantum orchestrator that interfaces directly with external quantum hardware and software. You will also automate software deployments on clean Ubuntu environments and build CI workflows. You will work closely with TreQ’s systems engineers, software lead, and supply chain partners to pioneer open-architecture quantum infrastructure.
As a Software Engineer (C#/.NET worker services), your day will see you :
- Build, document, and maintain quantum orchestration and integration solutions (primarily C# worker services) that interface directly with external quantum hardware.
- Automate and document software deployments on clean Ubuntu environments using Docker and systemd.
- Establish, document, maintain, and streamline CI workflows to ensure high software quality.
- Actively participate in peer code reviews.
- Self-manage sprint tasks within a fast-moving, collaborative team.
Requirements
You will be a success in this role if:
You know about:
- .NET background worker services and message queues
- Docker container deployments and Systemd service management
- GitHub, CI/CD automation, and modern deployment pipelines
- Entity Framework, SignalR, or Blazor
You can:
- Demonstrate high proficiency in .NET and C#, with familiarity in Python
- Demonstrate the ability to specify, design, and document bi-directional APIs cleanly
- Independently problem-solve
- illustrate structured task management
You’ve had experiences like these:
- Developing software that interacts directly with external hardware or instruments
- Installing containerised software on clean Ubuntu server environments
- Establishing and maintaining reliable CI/CD pipelines
- Using AI tools to assist in generating unit tests, documentation, and routine code
You like:
- Security-first thinking and standard software patterns and practices
- Functional programming patterns (e.g., LINQ, immutable records)
- Thriving in a small, supportive, nimble team, where knowledge sharing and team growth are prioritized, working on deep tech challenges
- Letting AI handle repetitive/routine tasks so you can focus on core logic
- Writing TCP/IP stacks, compiler passes, or authentication solutions, or maintaining cloud infrastructure.
There is extra kudos if you have a degree in computer science, software engineering, physics, or can share equivalent practical experience. You don't need to be an expert in software architecture or have a background in quantum to apply. We value practical engineering experience as much as formal academic credentials. People join TreQ from industry, national laboratories, startups, academia, and military service.
TreQ is a veteran-owned, woman-owned small business and an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on capability, character, and the ability to contribute to our mission.

Work Location & Collaboration
TreQ is a hands-on engineering organisation tackling complex systems at the frontier of computing. This work requires close collaboration, trust, and rapid iteration, so most roles work primarily in person where our teams design, build, and operate systems together. Some hybrid flexibility may be available, though candidates should expect to spend the majority of their time on-site with teammates.
Export Control Work Authorisation Compliance
Some roles at TreQ involve access to technologies subject to export control laws in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other jurisdictions (including ITAR and EAR). Candidates for these roles must be eligible to access export-controlled technology without TreQ obtaining an export license. In accordance with applicable law, TreQ may also verify citizenship, immigration status, and the right to work where required. Certain roles may not be eligible for visa or export license sponsorship.
We believe that solving complex technical, scientific, and operational challenges requires a diversity of thought, background, and perspective. We are an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive, barrier-free, and supportive workplace where every team member can thrive and perform at their best.
We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or socio-economic background.
