On site five days a week for the first six months, then hybrid (five office days a fortnight) Java and Spring Boot first, with Angular or AWS a bonus Work on a major new cloud platform and the products that keep the business moving Must have UK right to work About the Company This is a large, established global pharmaceutical services business with a clear purpose: to advance human health. Their technology teams build the systems that support drug development and clinical trials worldwide, and they're investing heavily in digital transformation. Role Overview Several engineers are moving onto a brand-new cloud-based client portal on AWS, and these new roles will keep the existing product lines moving, including forecasting, order management and temperature control. You'll work in a collaborative team on real systems with a direct impact on global clinical trials. Strong Java developers who haven't had much AWS exposure are welcome, because there's a route into cloud-native work. Key Responsibilities Design, build and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements to production Work with Oracle databases, including PL/SQL for some roles Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and improve code quality and testing Collaborate with product, business and engineering colleagues Explain technical decisions clearly, and share knowledge with the team Pick up cloud-native and AWS work as the platform grows What You'll Need Essential Strong experience developing applications in Java with Spring or Spring Boot Experience with SQL, and Oracle technologies in particular Good grasp of object-oriented programming principles Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and full SDLC delivery Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline Desirable Angular or AWS experience Oracle PL/SQL or Forms (for the database-focused roles) Experience in a regulated environment Benefits & Package Work on a high-visibility new platform in a mission-driven business Stability and long-term opportunity with an established employer A route into AWS and cloud-native engineering for strong Java developers Hybrid working after the first six months Career development in a supportive team Interested?
