Solution Architect
Summary
Designs end-to-end technical solutions for government clients, aligning with security and enterprise standards while advising stakeholders on architecture trade-offs.
Salary: 120,000 - 150,000 including super
- Design solution architectures that meet client business, technical and security requirements, working with a good degree of autonomy across your assigned work streams.
- Translate business needs and stakeholder priorities into clear specifications architecture options, trade-offs and recommendations, escalating the most complex decisions to senior architects where appropriate.
- Produce high-quality architecture artefacts - solution designs, options analyses, target-state models, transition views and design documentation - ready for review by senior colleagues and client stakeholders.
- Ensure your designs align with client enterprise architecture, standards, and relevant Australian Government frameworks and security requirements.
- Build effective working relationships with client stakeholders, communicating architecture concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, vendors and specialists to keep designs practical, implementable and carried through delivery with integrity.
- Share knowledge and provide informal guidance to more junior consultants and contribute to the team's architecture methods and reusable assets.
- Support business development by contributing architecture input to proposals and estimates where required.
- Solid experience delivering solution architecture on client engagements with limited supervision, and a track record of producing quality designs that stand up to senior review.
- Sound, platform-agnostic architecture fundamentals across applications, integration, data, infrastructure and cloud, with the judgement to select appropriate technologies for the problem at hand.
- Working knowledge of architecture frameworks and practices (e.g. TOGAF or similar methods, common design patterns and well-architected frameworks, and non-functional and security-by-design considerations).
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to advise client teams and work effectively in complex environments.
- A consulting mindset - commercially aware, adaptable, client-focused and comfortable managing concurrent priorities.
- Experience working within Australian government or public sector environments, and familiarity with their standards and delivery contexts (highly regarded).
- You must hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian Government security clearance. Please note that Australian citizenship is a requirement for obtaining an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or industry certifications in an architecture, technology or related discipline. Cloud Solution Architecture certifications in Azure, AWS or GCP are highly desired.
