Solution Architect
Description
We are hiring a Solution Architect - Utilities and Energy to bridge utility business requirements and technology solutions. You will work across discovery, architecture, pre-sales, client engagements, product, and delivery to translate complex utility requirements into scalable and practical solutions. This is a client-facing, cross-functional role. You will work closely with utility stakeholders, engineering, product, and delivery teams to understand existing systems, design solution architectures, shape technical proposals, and ensure solutions are practical to implement and scale.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Discovery and solution design:
- Lead technical discovery workshops with utility teams across Metering, Billing, AMI/MDM, SCADA, GIS, OMS, ADMS, CRM and ERP.
- Translate utility requirements into solution architectures, data models, HLDs, integration flows, and implementation of roadmaps.
- Understand utility operational data including meter reads, consumption, load profiles, events, outages, registers and feeder/DTR hierarchies.
- Design solutions that connect existing utility systems and enable analytics, workflows, and operational decision-making.
Demonstrations and proofs of concept:
- Build and deliver tailored demonstrations using realistic utility datasets.
- Scope, configure and run proofs of concept aligned to client requirements and use cases.
- Explain solution architecture and technical concepts clearly to both business and technical stakeholders.
Proposals and bids:
- Own the technical and architecture sections of RFPs, RFIs, SOWs, and proposals.
- Develop solution approaches, architecture diagrams, integration designs, and compliance responses.
- Support utility/public-sector opportunities, including AMISP and system-integrator-led programmes.
- Review commercial proposals for technical accuracy, security considerations, and delivery commitments.
Delivery handover and solution ownership:
- Prepare solution design documents, data mappings, and integration specifications for implementation teams.
- Support solution implementation and validate that deployed solutions meet business and technical requirements.
- Identify and resolve ambiguity across requirements, integrations, data, and system dependencies.
- Capture reusable solution patterns, accelerators and best practices for future engagements.
Product and market feedback:
- Feed utility requirements and customer insights back to the product team.
- Track developments across smart metering, AMI/MDM, utility analytics, CEA, State ERCs and relevant industry standards.
- Identify opportunities for new product capabilities and solution accelerators.
Requirements:
- 8-10 years of experience in solution consulting, pre-sales engineering, technical consulting or implementation, preferably in utilities/energy.
- Strong understanding of AMI, HES, MDM, Billing/CIS, SCADA, OMS, GIS, and ADMS.
- Strong understanding of SQL, data models, REST APIs, integrations, and enterprise systems.
- Experience translating complex business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Experience with RFP/RFI responses, technical proposals, and client presentations.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with utility/public-sector tenders, including AMI programmes.
- Experience with utility data, revenue protection, AT& C losses, SAIDI/SAIFI, DMA/leak detection, and network analytics.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure sizing, OLTP/OLAP, and high-volume data platforms.
- Experience with field-force, work-order or asset-inspection workflows.
- Python or JavaScript experience for data preparation and automation.
- Knowledge of CEA, State ERCs, smart-metering programmes and AMI/MDM interoperability.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.
