Solutions Architect
Description
As a Solutions Architect, you will design the technical blueprint behind some of the world’s largest sports, media and entertainment platforms. You will work at the meeting point of client business goals and engineering execution: shaping architectures, de-risking delivery, and guiding teams from first conversation to production at scale. If you enjoy solving hard, ambiguous problems, explaining complex systems simply, and building AI-first products used by millions, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical discovery with clients to understand business goals, existing systems and constraints, and turn them into clear solution architectures.
- Design scalable, secure and cost-efficient cloud architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure) for web, mobile, TV and backend platforms.
- Own architecture decisions across microservices, APIs, data pipelines, event-driven systems and integrations with third-party platforms.
- Build effort estimates, technical proposals and delivery roadmaps, and support pre-sales conversations with credible, well-reasoned solutions.
- Guide engineering teams through implementation, reviewing designs and code to make sure what’s built matches the architecture and quality bar.
- Drive non-functional excellence: performance, high availability, observability, security and compliance at massive scale.
- Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies, especially GenAI/LLM and agentic systems, and recommend where they create real business value.
- Define architecture standards, reusable reference architectures and best practices across Proximity’s engagements.
- Mentor engineers and tech leads, and contribute to knowledge-sharing through Proximity Talks, blogs and thought leadership.
Requirements:
- 12-15 years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a solutions architect, technical architect or tech lead role.
- Strong hands-on background in at least one backend stack (Java/Kotlin, Go, Node.js or Python) and a solid grasp of frontend and mobile architectures.
- Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred), containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
- Proven experience designing distributed, high-traffic systems: microservices, caching, CDNs, queues/streams (Kafka, SQS/PubSub), and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Strong understanding of system design trade-offs: scalability, latency, availability, security and cost.
- Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions, writing architecture documents, and producing estimates and proposals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to both C-level stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Ability to break down complex problems into simple, practical solutions that serve business needs.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and across multiple clients, time zones and priorities.
