SOP Technical Writer
About the Role:
This role is responsible for capturing, documenting and formalising operational processes into clear, accurate and user friendly Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The SOPs must align with safety, quality and operational standards. The role can be based at either our Christchurch or Napier site and is 20 hours per week. Travel between Christchurch and Napier will be required twice a month, depending on where the successful candidate is based, with overnight stays of 2-3 days required.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture operational processes on-site by working alongside factory and operational teams.
- Observe tasks in real time and document clear, accurate step-by-step procedures.
- Identify and record critical job steps, safety requirements, hazards, quality control points and risk assessment requirements.Develop, update and revise SOPs using the Ravensdown SOP template, naming conventions and required standards.
- Ensure SOPs are easy to follow, consistent in format and language, and reflective of actual site practice. Build effective working relationships with site personnel and seek clarification where processes are unclear or variable.
- Coordinate access to work areas and plan observation opportunities around operational timing.
- Manage multiple SOPs concurrently while balancing time between on-site observation and documentation.
- Follow all site inductions, health and safety protocols, and Ravensdown documentation requirements.

- Confident communicator with frontline teams.
- Comfortable working in industrial/factory settings.
