Sr. Atlassian Solution Architect, Jira & Integrations
Summary
Senior Atlassian architect who designs and configures a new enterprise Jira environment and builds production-grade integrations linking Jira with an internal portfolio application, GitLab, and Airtable. Blends platform architecture (schemes, workflows, Forge, automation), integration engineering (REST APIs, Python/Node.js/Java), and client-facing process consulting.
- Enterprise Jira architecture, including schemes, workflows, permissions, automation, and
governance
- Application engineering, including REST APIs, GitLab delivery practices, resilient data
synchronization, and production supportability.
- Process consulting, including current-state discovery, future-state design, stakeholder
alignment, and adoption.
- 5+ years hands-on Jira administration, architecture, consulting experience, including at
least two environments or major project portfolios designed and configured from the
ground up.
- Atlassian certification such as ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud or a comparable
current credential.
- Experience building Atlassian Forge apps or other approved Jira extensions.
- Experience enabling Rovo, Model Context Protocol integrations, or other agent-based
capabilities within enterprise governance standards.
- Experience with the Airtable API and integrations involving enterprise portfolio or workmanagement platforms.
- Deep knowledge of Jira workflows, screens, custom fields, issue types, permissions,
notifications, and schemes interactions at enterprise scale.
- Production experience designing and building Jira REST API integrations with an external
system of record.
- Working proficiency in Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java, with the ability to write, review,
test, and troubleshoot integration code.
- Fluency with Git and GitLab, including branching strategies, merge requests, peer review,
and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience designing reliable synchronization patterns, including conflict handling, rate
limits, pagination, idempotency, retries, observability, and bulk backfill.
- Experience delivering technology solutions in a large, matrixed enterprise with formal
security review, change control, and release governance.
- Strong Agile delivery, process design, release management, and program or portfolio
management knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with
the ability to explain design tradeoffs to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Lead the design, architecture, and configuration of Jira solutions, including project
structures, issue hierarchies, workflows, custom fields, permissions, notifications,
automation, and governance standards.
- Architect, build, and support integrations between Jira and enterprise applications,
defining data mappings, synchronization strategies, authentication methods, monitoring,
and error-handling approaches.
- Collaborate with engineering teams within GitLab environments to develop and maintain
integrations, establish end-to-end traceability, and support modern CI/CD delivery
practices.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate future-state operating
models and delivery requirements into scalable Jira workflows, controls, and platform
configurations.
- Design and implement automation and extensibility solutions using Jira Automation,
Atlassian Forge, and other platform capabilities to improve efficiency and reduce manual
effort.
- Establish delivery governance standards, including workflow controls, Definition of Ready
(DoR), Definition of Done (DoD), auditability requirements, and appropriate AI governance
frameworks.
- Develop portfolio-level reporting, dashboards, and executive metrics that provide
meaningful visibility into delivery performance, operational health, and business outcomes.
- Lead solution validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), production deployment activities,
and knowledge transfer, including technical documentation, administrator runbooks, and
end-user enablement.
