Job Description
Team Overview:
The Japan Client Relationship Management (CRM) team is accountable for managing client relationships with payment ecosystem stakeholders such as banks, financial institutions, platformers, eCommerce companies, wallet providers, and Fintech.
The CRM team also works in collaboration with Product, Finance, Legal, Client Services teams and other business function at Visa to drive client relationships.
Roles & Responsibilities of this position:
The primary objective of this role is to drive sustainable growth and long-term value for both Visa and its clients through strategic relationship management and account leadership. The role requires developing a deep understanding of client priorities and business challenges, identifying and advancing growth opportunities, building strong relationships across client organizations, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to align Visa's capabilities with client needs. Success will be measured by the ability to strengthen client partnerships, deliver commercial outcomes, and contribute to the achievement of business objectives for both clients and Visa.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute account strategies aligned with client objectives and Visa's strategic priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across client organizations to understand business needs and drive long-term partnerships.
- Use data, commercial analysis, and financial insights to evaluate opportunities, shape account strategies, and drive the achievement of revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities, initiatives, and investments to maximize value for clients and Visa.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across Visa to align resources, coordinate activities, and deliver client and business objectives.
- Drive a robust sales pipeline for Visa's core products and value-added services, from opportunity identification through execution.
- Monitor market, regulatory, and competitive developments and incorporate insights into account plans and client discussions.
- Balance client and Visa interests while ensuring effective risk management and compliance with Visa's policies and controls.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Fluent in both spoken and written Japanese and English.
- 10+ years of experience in account management, business development, sales, management consulting, product management, investment banking, or related fields.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to apply data, financial analysis, and business judgment to evaluate opportunities and drive revenue, profitability, and growth.
- Proven track record of account planning, business development, and execution against strategic and commercial objectives.
- Takes ownership of complex business challenges, navigates ambiguity, and drives outcomes through influence, collaboration, and execution.
- Builds trusted relationships and credibility across client organizations and internal teams.
- Communicates effectively, presenting complex ideas clearly and influencing decision-making at multiple levels.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and project management capabilities, maintaining rigorous attention to detail while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
- Curious, adaptable, and motivated to continuously learn in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA.
- Experience designing, negotiating, and executing complex commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of the Japanese payments, banking, fintech, or digital commerce landscape.
- Experience in telecommunications, card program management, co-brand partnerships, or customer loyalty programs is a plus.
