About the Role We are looking for a highly experienced Software Engineer to join our team. You’ll have a direct impact on engineering practices throughout the stack (front/back) and are expected to raise the bar for the engineers around you. As a Software Engineer, you will work on a charter to solve high-level business challenges with a collaborative, cross-functional team. Your curiosity will serve you well in asking the right questions to understand the customer problems we're solving. Your ability to learn quickly, write, and design quality software will serve you well in delivering value to our customers incrementally. As a Software Engineer at Laurel, you’ll have the capacity to understand and impact the experiences of our customers, standing at the forefront of the mission to return time to our customers. Laurel is at a pivot point. We've built a product that people like, and have a direction that people love, but it hasn't been done yet. Responsibilities: ● Design and build reliable, maintainable, and scalable full-stack code. ● Own key product areas in a cross-functional “pod” structure of 4–7 engineers. ● Collaborate with Product, Design, and Customer Success to define and deliver value. ● Extend automated testing from unit to integration levels within CI/CD pipelines. ● Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system issues. ● Stay current on technologies and propose impactful product or tech improvements. ● Mentor peers and uphold high standards for technical and collaborative excellence. Requirements Must-Haves: ● 5+ years of professional experience with full-stack development, building and scaling modern web applications using React, TypeScript, NodeJS, NextJS, messaging queues (ie. AWS SQS), and MongoDB. ● Deep knowledge, expert-level understanding, and strongly-held opinions about how to design and deliver high-quality, production-grade software in fast-paced environments. ● Proven history of taking ownership, action, and initiative to lead teams, analyze information, and creatively solve problems in a highly collaborative and communicative environment ● Clear communication is a MUST—both English ability and the ability to communicate ideas, have productive conversations, be accurate and concise, etc. ● Must have the ability to travel to US 2x per year, up to 1 week ● Demonstrated ability to manage large-scope project estimations and delivery timelines, including planning, prioritization, and deadline ownership ● Proven experience working in close partnership with Product Managers and Designers ● Experience acting as a key decision-maker on product or business initiatives ● Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of feature development Important: ● Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and integration test frameworks. ● Experience with mentoring developers and contributing to engineering best practices. ● Experience with AI/ML products and platforms.
