Discussion

Summary

Senior .NET engineer on DriveCentric's Communications team, owning end-to-end email systems for the dealership CRM: sending domains and DNS authentication, deliverability, high-volume Email Blast campaigns, transactional/inbound email, and compliance. Built with C#/.NET, SQL Server/PostgreSQL, Kafka, Angular, and providers like SendGrid.

Are you tired of not being challenged, not having a voice, or having to work with outdated technologies? Do you want to be a direct contributor in a company that is an innovation leader and has the awards to prove it?

DriveCentric is the premier customer relationship management (CRM) and AI marketing company that connects automotive dealerships to customers in innovative, award-winning ways.

Email is critical for allowing dealerships to reach their customers. The Communications Team owns that channel end to end: sending domains and DNS authentication, deliverability and reputation, Email Blast campaigns, transactional and inbound email, price change emails, click and unsubscribe tracking, and the compliance rules that govern all of it. If you want to own high-volume, customer-facing systems where every message has to land in the inbox, you'll like it here.

Responsibilities:

  • Own sending domain management for thousands of dealerships: store-specific and shared sending domains, DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), link and SSL branding, and a normalized source of truth for domain configuration.

  • Protect deliverability and sender reputation. Diagnose DMARC failures, hard and soft bounces, and mailbox-provider blocks (Xfinity, iCloud, and others), and report on blocked and bounced mail by store.

  • Architect and scale the Email Blast platform: batching and send queues for high-volume and shared domains, scheduling within store hours, audience accuracy, partitioned tables, and blast metrics for reporting.

  • Build and maintain the services behind transactional, inbound, and price change emails.

  • Integrate with and manage email service providers (SendGrid, Mandrill, Mailchimp): API keys and subusers, event webhooks, routing traffic between providers, and staying inside provider limits and compliance policies.

  • Own APIs and event-driven pipelines (Kafka) that carry that data back to the CRM.

  • Navigate email compliance and abuse prevention: CAN-SPAM, Canada's CASL, FTC requirements, List-Unsubscribe headers, opt-out handling, and blocking malicious links in inbound and outbound mail.

  • Design and develop customer and admin facing Angular UI for customer interactions and store management.

  • Build testability into communication systems: simulated providers, webhook forwarding for dynamic environments, automated tests for unsubscribe and send flows, and load and allocator simulators.

  • Assist in identifying and resolving issues. Research escalations from support teams, dealership email problems, and bug reports. Perform root cause analysis and address identified issues.

  • Keep services healthy and current: framework and library upgrades, dependency and security remediation, query tuning, retry and dead-letter handling, APM monitoring, and alert tuning.

  • Participate in story refinement, release planning, and code review. Deploy your own validated code to production.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of C# .NET development experience.

  • 3+ years of development experience with 3rd party APIs.

  • 3+ years of development experience with Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.

  • Working knowledge of email infrastructure: SMTP, MIME and message headers, and DNS records for email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).

  • Experience with frontend frameworks, preferably Angular.

  • Working knowledge of HTTP and webhook based integrations.

  • Working knowledge of parallel and asynchronous programming techniques.

  • Working knowledge of data exchange formats (JSON, XML, etc.) and serialization/deserialization.

  • Experience with microservice and event-driven architecture.

  • Exceptional communication, problem solving, and analytical skills.

  • Exceptional sense of ownership and responsibility.

  • Experience owning production issues in real time and diagnosing problems in live customer traffic.

  • Ability to balance business and technical objectives when making decisions.

  • Ability to work on tasks independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience with automotive DMS platforms or automotive retail operations.
  • Experience with Kafka.
  • Experience with MassTransit.
  • Experience with production instrumentation: metrics, logging, and distributed tracing (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Elastic).
  • Experience with AWS (EKS, SQS, S3, Transfer Family, Route 53) and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience working alongside AI coding agents on production codebases.
  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or modern front-end frameworks to facilitate full-stack collaboration.
