Student Athletic Trainer
Position Summary
The Student Athletic Trainer assists the athletic training staff with the daily operation of the athletic training facility and provides support during practices, games, and other athletic events. This position is designed to provide students with practical experience in athletic training operations while working as part of the athletic training team.
Pay Rate- $12.00 an hour
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Practice and Game Day Support
- Assist with setting up and preparation of athletic training areas for practices and competitions.
- Prepare and check emergency and medical equipment prior to practices and events, including:
- Water trees and hydration supplies
- Medical kits
- AED
- Crutch bags
- Splint bags
- Other athletic training equipment as assigned
- Assist with breakdown and organization of athletic training equipment following practices and competitions.
- Ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available at designated athletic venues.
Athletic Training Room Operations
- Assist with daily operation and organization of the athletic training room.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training room environment.
- Assist with enforcing athletic training room capacity limits and established facility policies.
- Restock supplies and notify athletic training staff when inventory is low.
- Assist with ice bag preparation and distribution.
- Organize and maintain athletic training paperwork and documentation as directed by the athletic training staff.
- Assist with coordinating and maintaining satellite athletic training rooms to ensure they are properly stocked, organized, and prepared for use.
Professional Responsibilities
- Follow all athletic training room policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain confidentiality of student-athlete medical and personal information.
- Communicate professionally with student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, physicians, and other athletic department personnel.
- Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and a willingness to learn.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic training staff.
