Duties:

As one of the groups Nuclear Facility Safety Engineers, support is provided to facilities and projects to review current and new work packages and develop or update the safety basis documentation along with all supporting calculations and reports. Must be able to communicate with project personnel to understand the project needs and translate both into the safety-based documents and work packages. Good oral and written communications skills are mandatory.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES (FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS):

  • Prepares Nuclear Facility Safety products such as calculations, scopes of work, and hazard identification and analysis in support of new or modified safety basis documents.
  • Support project and functional Unreviewed Safety Question and Unreviewed Change Determinations for assigned work packages and procedures. Follows procedures in the development of Nuclear Facility Safety products.
  • May provide technical support in the areas of operations, maintenance, inspections and tests, and configuration management for assigned facilities and/or projects.
  • Understands and uses computer software and applications associated with Nuclear Facility Safety assignments.
  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.
  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.
  • Conforms to company core values.
  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.
  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.


Job-Related Qualifications Required:

Education: BS in an appropriate engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university

Experience: 7+ years of experience required.


Ability to obtain a Q clearance.

Ability to become qualified in the following areas: Unreviewed Safety Question Determination Preparer/Reviewer; Unreviewed Change Determination Preparer/Reviewer; Nuclear Facility Safety Engineer within one year of hiring.
